Our Get Into Customer Service program with Cineplex is off to a great start!
August 27, 2018
Get Into is a unique employment training program that connects young people aged 18 to 29 facing barriers to employment with employers looking to fill skills gaps and make a difference. Two Get Into Customer Service cohorts with employer partner Cineplex are currently in progress in Toronto and Oakville, Ontario.
The twenty-five participants are receiving employability skills training delivered by local youth employment organizations. These community organizations, Yonge Street Mission in Toronto and STRIDE in Oakville, also provide vocational skills training tailored to meet Cineplex’s hiring needs.
The young people are also receiving hands-on work placements and are paired with workplace buddies who provide mentorship and coaching.
Because hiring is based on attitude and not past work experience, the program provides young people who possess little or no work experience with the opportunity to showcase their skills, build their confidence and get jobs. This is especially important for young people facing chronic poverty, served by Yonge Street Mission, and those with mental health issues, served by STRIDE.
100% of past Get Into participants have reported an increase in core workplace skills such as reliability, confidence, communication, leadership and working with others. The Get Into program, originally created in the UK by The Prince’s Trust, is expanding across Canada.
