Prince’s Trust Canada Dalglish Scholar Announced

July 9, 2019

Prince’s Trust Canada is pleased to announce that Garrett France-Wyllie has been selected as the 2019 Dalglish Scholar. He is the third annual recipient of the award and will receive a full scholarship to attend The Prince’s Foundation Summer School in the U.K.

The three-week intensive course enables students to develop their knowledge of traditional architecture, design, building and repair techniques and how these can be applied in the 21st century.

Having just completed Willowbank‘s three-year diploma program in Heritage Conservation and graduating as valedictorian of the class of 2019, Niagara-Ontario-based Garrett France-Wyllie hopes to improve his drafting skills and learn new conservation methods. Following the course, he plans on putting his new knowledge to use as he expands his recently established business, France-Wyllie Restoration, specializing in wood window restoration, heritage hardware, heritage lighting and metal restoration.

The scholarship covers tuition costs, materials, room-and-board, as well as a travel allowance. It is made possible thanks to the generosity of Peter and Camilla Dalglish, Patrons of Prince’s Trust Canada.

Recipients are selected through a partnership with Willowbank School, an institution pioneering an ecological approach to heritage conservation and renewal. HRH The Prince of Wales is a Patron of Willowbank and a long-time supporter of the built environment, sustainable building methods and heritage conservation.
